LAS COLINAS SYMPHONY with John Lipinski

Greetings……
Our theme this 2008 / 2009 season is  Paris

These are the Saturday show dates at Irving Arts Center.

If you normally go to Arlington at the Metro Center, then your date would be 2 days before the dates below and if Garland, at the Granville Performing Arts Center, then 1 day before dates below.

2008

December 20th       Concert III
An evening of holiday favorites!  Celebrate the Season with the LCSO as they present an evening of Holiday Favorites at the Irving Arts Center!  Bring in the season with the Grammy winning New Wave Polka band, Brave Combo.  Rarely, if ever, has a band name been more apropos. The Denton, Texas based groups has, over the last 25 years, collected a dizzying array of descriptive musical pegs; hot jazz, blues band, and Tex-Mex conjunto to name a few!  Here their premier performance with orchestra on the Las Colinas Symphony Orchestra stage!  And of course, many Yuletide favorites along with the Symphony Arlington’s traditional Carol Sing-a-long!

2009

January 17th       Concert IV
The guest artist will be Oliver Schlaffer, cellist.  Mr. Schlaffer will be performing Shulman’s  Suite Parisienne.

February 14th      Concert V
Yumiko Schlaffer, harpist.  Mrs. Schlaffer will be performing Boieldieu’s Concerto for Harp.

March 14th         Concert VI
Maestro Austin will challenge the audience with the Fourth Annual Great Movie Scores Quiz. Maestro Austin and the orchestra will play selections from the sound tracks of famous French films, and the audience gets to identify the film titles and composers. “It’s easier then it seems,” adds Maestro Austin, “because we give lots of hints; cast, director, year, and so on.  Last year’s winner got a nice set of CDs for taking top honors.”  The concert will also feature Howard Hilliard performing Richard Strauss’s Horn Concerto No. 1.

April 11th         Concert VII
A special program titled On the Corner of Broadway and the Champs d'Elysees! will offer an evening of hit songs celebrating the City of Light, including “I Love Paris”, “The Last Time I Saw Paris”, “April In Paris”, and Cole Porter’s “You don’t Know Paris”, plus music from Gigi, Jaques Brel, and Le Miserables!

May 9th            Concert VIII
Ms. Arce will be performing Chopin’s Andante Spianato and Grand Polonaise.
